Berry Pomeroy Castle-
I am a student of arts and designing at Dartington Colege of arts. My father usually gives me pick and drop to and from college as his office comes en route to my college. But yesterday he has to go out of town for a meeting so I booked company cab that my friend recommend to me as she used it whenever for her travel. It was significant having a ride with them. Their service was superb. The cabs were clean and were in good condition. Also, their fare was reasonable too. The driver took a route to Berry Pomeroy Castle . When I was a child my father took me to that castle as I was very fond of barbies and castles. When I was passing through the castle all the memories were rewinding in my mind.
With a gatehouse and three towers joined by a curtain wall, Berry Pomeroy is constructed around a central courtyard. To create a continuous line of fire down the dry moat, the corner towers and gatehouse are all equipped with gun ports on the ground floor.The stunning setting of Berry Pomeroy Castle atop a precipitous hillside fits with its reputation as one of England's most haunted castles. Since 1069, there have only been the Pomeroys and the Seymours as owners. The original building on this property was erected in the 13th century, however, it was a manor house rather than a true castle.
A few miles to the northeast of Totnes, a market town, the castle is perched on a high point of the ground over the Gatcombe valley. After the Norman Conquest, the Pomeroy family made here their home, though there was undoubtedly a manor house there during the later Middle Ages. A manor house is mentioned in a crown survey from 1292, but the first written mention of a castle on the property is from 1496.Passing by I remember a time when I just knew that I had to visit Berry Pomeroy Castle's crumbling walls when I read that it is thought to be the most haunted castle in England! Even more so after my mother and I had late-night YouTube documentaries about the Castle, which led to a restless night. On Dartmoor, it is right in the middle of a place where ghost sightings and other paranormal occurrences are not uncommon. There is a wealth of local legend, ranging from the devil supposedly visiting Brentor to the enigmatic castle located in the middle of Lydford Village.
At that time I get so scared and from then I stop going there. I was so afraid and after that time I was seeing that castle now after 5 years. I realised so many things there. I asked the driver to drive slowly so I can enjoy the views. I forget about the place but now it had refreshed my memories. Reviving those memories I came back home and I did not know when and how the little journey of my memories end.
